On Tuesday and Wednsday my class went on two field trips. On Tuesday we went to the Iowa Capital. *At the bottom is a picture inside looking up, and a picture of the Capital outside. I learn a lot at the Captial. I learned that once there was a fire in the Capital building. A man (forgot his name) closed two doors to block out most of the air in the room to stop the fire. It worked! A few days later the same man went up to were the fire was. He steped on a plank that got damaged. Since he was so high he fell to his death. Later at OUR visit we had the chance to go the top. (The whisper dome) We had to climb 100 steps to get to the top but it was worth it. (It is called the whisper dome because you have to whisper when you are up there because the sound carries down and a lot of people could hear you.) It looked really cool from up there, but I would STRONGLY suggest to NOT use your camera up there. Ps. ALL of the building was made from hand!!!!! ... and yes all the gold is real.
On our second field trip my class went to the Des Moines (Da-Moin) Art center. I thought that all the art work there was pretty cool! I saw a lot of interesting paintings. We also went to the Des Moines Sculpture park. My favorite sculpture was the big spider sculpture. I liked how big it is. I also like how it stands up. (It stands on thin legs) The sculpture park is open everyday and the Art Center is open everyday but Sunday. )You should go sometime!) All of the sculptures were different in every way. I also really like the white tree. It was molded by a 200 year old tree. Then it was painted white. I hope you enjoyed this post and you go to those two places! :)
